🎯 Exam Tips

📝 Exam Technique

GCSE Spanish Exam Tips:
All Spanish nouns have gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural). Adjectives must agree in gender and number. Most adjectives follow the noun. Demonstratives (este, ese, aquel) show distance. Possessive adjectives (mi, tu, su) agree with the noun owned.

⚠️ Common Errors

✗ Forgetting adjective agreement — writing "ella es inteligent" instead of "ella es inteligente" ✓ All Spanish adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun they describe: inteligente works for both, but many add -a for feminine (alto/alta, bueno/buena).

✗ Using the wrong tense — preterite for descriptions instead of imperfect ✓ Use the imperfect for ongoing past actions, descriptions and habits (era, tenía, hacía). Use the preterite for completed single events (fue, tuvo, hizo).

✗ Confusing ser and estar — both mean "to be" but are used differently ✓ Ser is for permanent characteristics, identity, time (es grande, es español). Estar is for temporary states, location, progress (está cansado, está en Madrid).

✗ Translating directly from English word order — putting adjectives before nouns ✓ Most Spanish adjectives follow the noun: "la casa blanca" (not "la blanca casa"). Some change meaning depending on position (un gran hombre vs un hombre grande).

Notas Detalladas

My mother wants me to study more Spanish. It is important that I practise every day to improve my pronunciation and my vocabulary.

Ejemplo

Me encanta que mi ciudad tenga tantos parques. Es increíble que haya tanta naturaleza en el centro de la ciudad.
I love that my city has so many parks. It is incredible that there is so much nature in the city centre.

I don't think the exam will be very difficult if I study enough. There might be some complicated questions, but I am prepared.

Q: Expresa tu opinión sobre la vida escolar usando el subjuntivo. Di qué te gusta, qué te preocupa y qué te gustaría que cambiara. (Write approx. 80-100 words in Spanish.)

About school life, there are many things I like. I love that my teachers are so enthusiastic and that they always help us when we have problems. However, I am worried that there is too much pressure with exams. I don't think it is healthy for students to spend so many hours studying without resting. I would like the education system to have more practical and creative subjects, not just written exams. It is also important for schools to offer more psychological support to students. Hopefully things will improve in the future so that everyone can enjoy learning more.
