🔀 Board Differences
Board specifications differ in assessment structure and emphasis. The core content is shared across boards; these are the genuine differences by board:
AQA: Core Pure plus an optional applied component; two option papers from a pool. Good range of additional Pure content.
Edexcel: Core Pure plus two option papers chosen from Further Pure, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics and Decision Mathematics, with restrictions on combinations. The most widely taught route.
OCR: Offered as OCR A and OCR B (MEI). MEI includes a distinctive problem-solving emphasis and a comprehension-style component; strong applied element.
WJEC: Pure plus applied options; the specific pathway chosen by the centre or school determines the applied content.
CCEA: Pure-heavy specification; applied modules vary by centre.
